politics tonight. president obama sitting down today with secretary of state hillary clinton which aired this sunday on "60 minutes." one of her last interviews before leaving the state department. president clinton caps off a high-profile week that includes the president's inauguration, testifying before congress about the benghazi attack. in the "60 minutes" interview with president obama offering plenty of praise for her. >> why did you want to do this together, a joint interview? >> the main thing is, i wanted to have a chance to publicly say thank you. because i think hillary will go down as one of the finest secretary of states we've had. it has been a great collaboration over the last four years. i'm going to miss her. wish she was sticking around. but she has long been so many miles, i can't begrudge her to want to take it easy for a little bit. but i want the country to appreciate just what an extraordinary role she's played during the course of my administration, and a lot of the successes we've had internationally have been because of her hard work. >> a few years ago it would

support. there is no political ideology that finds this cruel loss of life acceptable. i was incredibly pleased to see president obama include as part of his comprehensive plan to prevent gun violence a bill i first introduced in 2009 called the gun trafficking prevention act which would be the first federal law to define gun trafficking as a federal crime and will prevent guns from being moved into the hands of criminals. we have thousands of laws but none of them are directly focused on preventing someone from driving from one state to another state with a load of guns in the back of a truck that they can sell directly to criminals. it's shocking to me as a mother. it's shocking to me as a lawmaker but this is something we can actually fix. over the past three years more than 33,000 guns used in violence crimes showed signs of black market trafficking, 4 oh 20,000 firearms were stolen and thousands of guns with obliterated serial numbers were recovered by law enforcement. so while law enforcement is working over time to track down those who traffic these weapons, current law restricts
